Suzuki tapped as Sony Music Asia CFO/EVP
Wednesday, January 20, 2010
Universal Music Japan Vice Chairman Nobuko Suzuki will leave the company at the end of January to become chief financial officer and executive vice president of Sony Music Entertainment Asia, sources at Sony confirm.
Suzuki was replaced as Universal Japan CFO by Tomotaka Hoshiai on Jan. 1. In her new post, she will be based in Hong Kong and report to Sony Music Entertainment Asia President Daniel DiCicco from Feb. 1.
Suzuki -- described by UMJ Chairman Kei Ishizaka as a "superwoman" -- is one of the few high-profile female executives in the Japanese music industry. On joining UMJ in 1995 she worked closely with Ishizaka in building up UMJ into one of Japan’s biggest labels.
